Hazards above: Fallen from the skies
“Since 2001, the U.S. military has had a problem with drones crashing around the world. Last year, though, set a record for Air Force drone crashes. All told, 20 large Air Force drones were destroyed or badly damaged in accidents last year, the worst annual toll ever, according to a Washington Post investigation. Driving the increase was a rise in mishaps involving the Air Force’s most advanced “hunter-killer” drone, the Reaper.”

Refuge: 18 stories from the Syrian exodus
“A child broken. Homes destroyed. Millions of lives upended. Syria’s refugee crisis is altering the Middle East.”
Reporter Kevin Sullivan and Photographer Linda Davidson had an idea for a series of stories and held a brainstorm prior to their reporting trip to Syria. They returned with powerful photographs and an interest in exploring different ways to showcase the voices of Syrian refugees outside of our standard article template. Tim Wong mocked up this "story gallery" experience and I worked with our Wordpress developer Connor Jennings to build out the templates.

The perils of Great Falls
“From thundering falls to placid-looking shallows, deadly hazards lurk in water all along the Potomac River Gorge.”
This project was a graphics collaboration. I helped determine the digital presentation and appropriate UI with editing and suggestions from the rest of the team, and built the page with HTML, CSS and light JavaScript.
